Hello, I hope this email finds you in the best of ways.
I just wanted to share a little bit about my new song Silence and the music video with you, as they both come out this Friday, in just a few days.
I wrote Silence five years ago. It was right at the beginning of my Berlin blues. I'd just come back from Ireland, which always brings up many feelings and back many memories. It was a release of a lot of anger that'd been holding onto me for the past ten years or a lifetime.
It all came out in one go. Apparently behind anger there's sadness. It's about a sadder side to childhood, it's all the questions the child in me wanted to ask and all the things I wanted to say but couldn't.
I usually write songs to release heavy feelings, so for selfish reasons I can't wait to let go of this one.
I found the artwork online, on TikTok actually, like a true Gen Zer. The artist's name is Lykke Hennige and the artwork is called 'The Phone Works Both Ways'.
I made the music video from footage from my childhood which made me cry and laugh and cry again whilst I went through it all, trying to piece it together.
The Music Video will premiere at 3pm this Friday, (which you can notify yourself of by clicking the bell button on the video below).
Maybe though, people will relate (although in a way I hope not), to the feeling of being left aside, to not having your voice heard, to letting silence speak for you because you know your words won't land anywhere, and to letting someone else's silence speak for them too.
I hope somehow Silence can be some sort of solace for someone else asides from me, and I can't wait to share it with you so soon!
